Fairway Friends

Fairway Friends™ is a mentoring program available to all EWGA members and is supported by program sponsor Be the Ball 4U. In Fairway Friends™, experienced golfers partner with new golfers to help them feel comfortable on the golf course. Fairway Friends™ is what the EWGA is all about – helping women enter the game of golf in a fun, supportive environment!

The EWGA Asheville Area Chapter will have Fairway Friends golf rounds during some of the Tuesday night league events at the Grove Park Inn Golf Club. All chapter members participating in the Fairway Friends Mentor program will receive a small gift from Be the Ball 4U

To sign-up to be either a mentor or a mentee, contact Carol Mills or Bre Hall.

Mentor FAQs

Q:
Am I being asked to take someone who has never held a golf club out onto the golfcourse?

A:  No.  Mentees must have been through basic golf instruction prior to signing up for the program.  However, it may be their first time on a golf course in a setting that is not instruction based.

Q:  Am I expected to be a rules expert?

A:  No!  We expect you to be familiar with basic rules and etiquette including how to keep up pace of play, how to mark a ball, etc.

Q:  Do I have to be a low handicap golfer to be a Mentor?

A:  No!  We are looking for experienced golfers who know their way around the golf course.  Mentoring is not a reflection of golf skill as much as it is knowledge of the game.

Mentee FAQs

Q:
What type of questions should I ask my Mentor?

A: Your mentor is there to help YOU! So don’t be afraid to ask anything. It may be about pace of play, dress code, rules --anything you aren’ t sure about.

Q: How many times will I be paired with a Mentor?

A: What ever works for you!! It can be once, a few times, or as often as you would like! The mentoring will take place on select Tuesday evenings at the GPI course.
